Summer Of Service 2024
About Us: Our Beginnings
The Wisconsin Heels Project was created by four inspiring women in Madison, Wisconsin during the early 2000’s. Two were graduate students at the University of Wisconsin, and the others were local business owners. Their initial goal was to engage in community service and social activism while spotlighting the power of women by organizing heels-themed events like marches and 5k’s. The project rapidly expanded into the arenas of integrative health and personal support, which are core aspects of our mission today.
Service promotes community. Together we are strong.
Community Matters: A Legacy of Giving Back
The Wisconsin Heels Project has a long and proud history of helping others. In the early 2000’s, we organized marches featuring women in high heels who walked the streets of Madison and Milwaukee to raise funds for women’s health initiatives and other community causes.

From Marches To Modeling
Events like marches are how we got started, but our project took on a new direction in the early days when three local veterans returned home from their military service grappling with the devastating, multifaceted, life-altering challenges of trauma. The founders of the Wisconsin Heels Project didn't hesitate to respond. They started hosting private weekly social gatherings where they provided their services as heels and foot models to boost their morale, build camaraderie, and help them make healing connections. The results were remarkably positive, and the project continued to flourish, fostering awareness about holistic wellness concepts and the power of positive touch.
